To quote the membership invitation:
2020 would fail as a movie script. “Ridiculous!” We’d say, “Too far-fetched. No single year could be as weird as that.”
But it was, and everything was thrown out of balance.
Normally, as required in our by-laws, the annual meeting of the Morris Theatre Cooperative would have taken place already to provide members with the latest information about coop finances and plans for the future. This year, we kept waiting for some clarity about when we could discuss safely reopening and when the movie studios would once again distribute films. That time never came. We’re all hoping that 2021 brings an end to the pandemic and a return to more normal operations, but the coop board agreed there was no point in scheduling our annual meeting until we knew something. We think that time has come. Our annual meeting will be by Zoom on Thursday, January 14th at 5;30. This email is intended to provide coop members information about what has been going on at the theater, and to encourage you to attend the annual meeting to discuss the next steps for our cooperative.
Please join us Thursday 14th January at 5.30pm to discuss how we move forward as a cooperative given the current state of the world.
We’re looking for your help! We have been trying to think of a message to put on our marquee, but we want to hear your thoughts! We will be taking suggestions all weekend, and on Monday 30th March we will decide on the winner, who will receive 2 tickets to a movie once this is all over.
Leave a comment here (link under the post title) or on our Facebook and Twitter feeds.
Competition is now closed. Thank you to all those who took part for your suggestions!
